My article this week was going to be a current events topic. One of those posts where I try to look a mainstream media sideways and see what else there is to see. It has turned out to be a rather large project and will have wait until next week where I’ll have more time to work on it. I’ve done this before — bitten off more than I can chew. And Jax has always helped me power through it. This week was no different. I wrote my post on time. She reviewed it on time. [That’s how we manage our site. We edit each others’ work. It’s incredibly helpful.] But the post I intended for this week is going to require additional “revise and resubmit” sessions. Argh.
I’m feeling strapped for time a lot lately and am having to sit down and think about why. I have some pretty good reasons, some are temporary and some not. And all are really good live events. For example:
- I have company in town. My mom is here for a visit. YAY!
- I’m exercising after work to get ready for Tough Mudder. YAY!
- I was promoted at work in December and I’m putting in more hours. YAY PROMOTION!
- I’m staying busy with dance and socializing. YAY!
While all these things are YAY! events, they cut into my down time – which is when I think about and write my posts. It’s becoming clear to me that I need to manage my time more wisely, efficiently, and / or diligently. I’m really good at doing that under pressure. I’m not so good at doing that in daily life.
What about you? Are you good at managing your time? How do you do it?
